The CERMSD is one of the youngest centers in the University which was established on August 8, 2006, during the administration of the first University President Dr. Marilou S. Gilo-Abon. Through her able leadership who purportedly spearheaded in addressing related development advocacy, community empowerment and researches, with the fortitude of the first Director, For. Elmer T. Castañeto and prolific staff endeavored to its establishment which led to its magnificent success in its early years of operation. 
The Center caters to the challenges of developments in sustained  natural resources utilization and their management encompassing environmental protocols, Agenda 21 and laws pertaining to resources like the nature endowed mineral resources, surface waters and aquifers.

 

VISION
Consistent with the vision of the University, the Center envisions a holistic implementation of sustainable development, management and utilization of resources, promote environmental protection and conservation with the principles of multiple-use, community-based, demand driven encompassing promotion of good governance.

 

MISSION
The Center is a competent and excellent partner in pursuing the mandates of sustainable development, resource utilization, protection and conservation of the environment through development planning, technology implementation, research and capability building.

 

GOAL
Sustain active role in resource and development planning, implementation of sustainable programs, related researches and capability buildings.

 

OBJECTIVES
The Center primarily aims to promote, facilitate, and develop sustainable use and management of the endowed environmental resources along with the programs of the national government and other leading institutions.

Specific objectives are towards:

  • Sustainable utilization and management of natural resources
  • Implementation of programs and projects in support to thrusts of LGUs and other institutions
  • Researches on resource-based utilization
  • Responsible utilization of mineral resources
  • Monitoring and evaluation of development projects and programs
  • Greater participation in development planning
