After its top 8 finish last year, the Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) proved once again its quest for quality and excellence after landing 7th place as Top Ranking State University and Colleges (SUCs) during the 30th annual national conference of Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP, Incorporated) on Feb. 15 to 17, 2017.

Out of the 110 participating SUCs member institution, 22 SUCs made it to the top 10. Joining NVSU in the top 7 spot were University of Northern Philippines and Pangasinan State University.

The awardees were selected based on the following criteria: program accreditation, internal quality assurance system, participation of trained AACCUP internal accreditors, participation of SUCs to scheduled AACCUP trainings and conferences, and the awards received by SUCs for the last five years. Different SUCs sent pertinent documents to AACCUP which were thoroughly evaluated and screened by the organizing committee.

“We make sure that we submit our programs to accreditation. Once our internal accreditors are invited by AACCUP, the top management always sends our colleagues to act as accreditors to various SUCs. We have 100% percent attendance to all conferences, trainings, seminars, conducted by AACCUP,” said NVSU Quality Assurance Director Dr. Jocelyn Cabrera.

To date, NVSU has 40 total number of AACCUP accredited programs: 45% of the total programs were granted Level III status, 42.5% were given Level II, and 12.5% were accorded as Level I status.

Looking forward to the next AACCUP visit, Dr. Cabrera said that there are 15 programs scheduled for accreditation for SY 2017-2018. She hopes that with the continuous support and teamwork of everyone, NVSU will make it to the top 5 next year that would further prove the institution a true quality service provider.

Along with Cabrera, the said recognition was received by University President Dr. Andres Z. Taguiam, OIC Vice President Academic Affairs Dr. Loreta R. Vivian Galima, Quality Assurance Coordinator Bambang Campus Dr. Corazon Cudia, and Campus Administrator Bambang Campus Dr. Araceli V. Dumagas.

This year’s conference was enthemed “Internalizing Quality in State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and Internationalizing AACCUP,” held at the Grand Ballroom Hall, Century Park Hotel, Malate, Manila.
