The NVSU Bayombong community celebrated its recent centennial plus one year anniversary, marking the Nueva Vizcaya State University’s legacy, academic excellence, and societal contribution.

HISTORY

Dating back since 1916 as the then Nueva Vizcaya Rural High School (NVRHS) which started as a farm settlement school, NVSU flourished as it undergo several transformations geared towards a better and responsive dynamic academe.

In 1956, NVRHS was renamed Nueva Vizcaya National Agricultural School (NVNAS) by virtue of Republic Act (RA) No. 1580. Another conversion took place in 1964 when NVNAS was converted to Nueva Vizcaya Agricultural College (NVAC) through RA 4055.

With the increasing clamor for more degree courses, NVAC was converted to Nueva Vizcaya State Institute of Technology (NVSIT) by Presidential Decree 196 on May 22, 1973. NVSIT responded and provided expansions of its course offerings in agriculture and related fields.

NVSU earned its university status in 2004 with the merging of the Nueva Vizcaya State Polytechnic College in Bambang.

Among the highlights of the celebration were the Honoring of Past Administrators and Presidents and the Awarding of Outstanding Alumni of NVSU Bayombong Campus.

Dr. Fortunato A. Battad, former president of NVSIT in 1987-1993, was one of the honorees and served as the Keynote Speaker as he gave advice to all the dreamers.

“If you dream, you can walk or run, but choose to soar,’ Dr. Battad said.

The historical-cultural journey of NVSU Bayombong Campus was also remembered through the Tertulia exhibit at the NVSU Library Alley. Talents were also showcased as Strings and Stanzas: A Musical Concert was also staged at the NVSU Gymnasium.

Selected members of the faculty presented their researches and shared notes and lectures from conferences in the 2017 NVSU Academic Conference and the non-teaching staff attended an echo seminar during the administrative conference.

Likewise, students also took part in the celebration where various contested activities were conducted like the booth exhibit, photography contest, quiz bowl, video making contest, NVSU got talent, spoken word poetry, and variety show.#
