In order to prepare Information Technology (IT) and Computer Science (CS) students for their internship, the students underwent an On-the-Job (OJT) Orientation from January 24 to January 25 this year at the university mini-theater.

The 2-day orientation, aimed to equip On-the-Job trainees with professional and inter-personal skills, included seminars on basic conversation skills, written and oral abilities, assessment of one's value and self-worth, adaptability, leadership and work ethics as well as on various word processing software.

During the opening program, Dr. Loreta Vivian BR. Galima, Vice President of Academic Affairs, commended Mr. Julius S. Valderama, Dean of the College of Arts and Science (CAS) along with the faculty of the department of IT and CS and the OJT coordinators on their efforts to prepare the students and equip them with the proper skills necessary to undergo the emersion process. She then emphasized that by doing so, it will not be "very difficult for them [students] to transition from learners to professionals".

A total of 91 students along with their parents, attended the orientation. Mrs. Rodelyn M. Aguinaldo, department chair of CS explained that the involvement of the parents during the student's internship is very vital, "tulungan niyo po kaming i-encourage ang mga anak niyo na matapos nila ang internship nila. Alam po namin na malaki ang role ninyo bilang mga magulang nila, kaya inimbitahan din namig kayo dito (help us encourage your children to finish their internship. We know that your role as their parents is very important, that is why we also invited you here)", said Aguinaldo during her presentation of the OJT policies and guidelines.

The students will be deployed to various offices and agencies such as The Philippine Postal Corporation ? Post Office, Land Transportation Office, Smart Communications, Philippine Statistics Authority, Local Health Insurance Office, Local Government Unit of Solano, Jesus Academy of Redeemed Servants, PCI Enterprise, IT Bytes, PCI Net Enterprise and FCF Corporation.

In order to qualify for graduation on June, students need to render a total of 486 hours of internship and should be completed in time for the submission of grades.
