"This victory is an affirmation of the student's remarkable talent for theater and the performing arts.", said Professor Romana A. Dulnuan, Cultural Affairs Coordinator of the University after students of the Nueva Vizacaya State University won the drama competition during the 2018 Cagayan Valley Anti-Drug Abuse Summit held at the Cagayan State University (CSU) -Saint Andrews on February 2, 2018.
Seven (7) students from the College of Teacher Education, namely: Billy Joe Peralta, Czar Justine Navalra, Julius Omanito, Mark John Guttierez, Floree Ann Acoba, Leah Bornales, Kenneth Carl Caldito and Ramon Bangngon, and one (1) from the College of Bussiness and Econimics, Rina Sadili, proudly represented the university on the said competition.
Dulnuan further explained that the group only had one week to prepare after receiving the invitation to participate eight (8) days before the actual day of the competition. Unfazed by this challenge, Dulnuan said, "The students, our trainer; Mr. Elson Boie Tumaneng and I made sure that our team was ready despite the limited time to prepare."
The team received 20,000.00 pesos cash prize after defeating Saint Ferdinand College, University of La Sallette, and the Cagayan State University in the said competition.
The 2018 Cagayan Valley Anti-Drug Abuse Summit, with the theme, "War on Drugs, Early Wins: Sa Drogra Talo Ka, Achieve and Pagbababgo Thru FOURmula 1 Plus" is an advocacy program of the Department of health (DOH) Region 02 aimed to curb drug abuse.
The summit was attended by heads of national agencies, local government units, academe, media, and other agencies.
