The College of Teacher Education (CTEd) produced the most number of graduates with 255 graduating students, which made up 24 percent of the total number of graduates this year.
The graduates were conferred by the University President, Dr. Andres Z. Taguiam. In his message, Pres. Taguiam commended the graduates for their hard work and dedication in completing their respective courses. He also reminded them that "the best preparation for tomorrow, is doing your best today." Gracing the graduation ceremonies was this year's commencement speaker, Engr. Ferdinand P. Tumaliuan, EnP, Regional Director of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) 02 and member of the University Board of Regents. In his speech, he challenged the graduates by saying "dream for yourselves, for our communities, and for our country". He further explained the importance of perseverance through the success stories of Colonel Harland David Sanders, founder of the Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), and Janine Berdin, grand winner of Tawag ng Tanghalan 2018, who according to Tumaliuan, "both pursued their dreams in spite of difficulties, obstacles and discouragements."
Frezer Asis Barsicula Jr, a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics student and this year's magna cum laude with the highest general point average (GPA), spoke in behalf of the graduating class. In his speech, he reminisced the difficulties he experienced and the sacrifices he needed to make "to reach this end." He believed that these experiences had led him to his triumph. Barsicula then thanked his parents, his teachers, and his classmates for the support, inspiration, and learnings.
Furthermore, the outpouring support exhibited by the parents of the graduates confirmed the successful turnout of this year's commencement exercises.
