From Debut to Growth: NVSU climbs to 1001-1500 Band in THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026, expands presence across 13 indicators

Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) continues to strengthen its global reputation in sustainability after advancing to the 1001–1500 band in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Rankings, a marked improvement from its 1501+ placement during its debut participation in 2025.

The latest results reflect not only a rise in overall standing but also a significant expansion in the university’s performance coverage—from seven Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) indicators in 2025 to 13 indicators in 2026. This development underscores NVSU’s growing commitment to integrating sustainability across its core functions of instruction, research, extension, and governance.

Expanded Presence Across SDGs

In its second year of participation, NVSU successfully entered seven new SDG categories, broadening its global footprint in sustainability initiatives. These newly ranked indicators include:

  • SDG 1 (No Poverty): 601–800
  • SDG 5 (Gender Equality): 601–800
  • SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation): 601+
  • SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure): 601–800
  • SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities): 801+
  • SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities): 801+
  • SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production): 601+

The addition of these indicators highlights the university’s expanded engagement in diverse sustainability areas, ranging from social equity to environmental stewardship and innovation.

 Notable Improvements in Key Areas

Beyond expanding its coverage, NVSU also demonstrated significant upward movement in several indicators:

  • SDG 4 (Quality Education) improved from the 1501+ band in 2025 to 801–1000 in 2026—one of the university’s most notable gains.
  • SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) advanced from 1001+ to 801–1000, reflecting strengthened contributions to employment and economic development.
  • SDG 13 (Climate Action) rose from 801–1000 to 601–800, indicating enhanced institutional efforts in addressing climate-related challenges.

These improvements point to strengthening academic programs, research outputs, and community initiatives aligned with global development goals.

Sustained Performance in Continuing Indicators

NVSU maintained its standing in several SDGs that were already part of its 2025 debut:

  • SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) remained within the 1001+ range, reflecting consistent engagement in health-related initiatives.
  • SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) is now classified under 801+, a consolidated band that reflects continued participation.
  • SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) is placed in the 1001–1500 band, consistent with ongoing collaboration efforts across sectors.

These results indicate steady performance and sustained commitment, even as reporting bands and classifications evolve.

As NVSU continues to refine its sustainability initiatives, the 2026 results serve as both validation of progress and motivation for further advancement. With a broader SDG portfolio and improved rankings, the university is well-positioned to strengthen its global impact and leadership in sustainability in the years ahead.
