NVSU student researchers bag awards in 2025 Agri-Youth Congress

Marking their first-ever participation in the 2025 Nationwide Agri-Youth Congress sponsored by the Agricultural Training Institute – International Training Center on Pig Husbandry (ATI–ITCPH), students from the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA) major in Animal Science of the Nueva Vizcaya State University brought home major awards in the Research Colloquium category held at Holiday Inn, Malvar, Lipa City, Batangas, on October 28–29.

The team composed of Marlet A. Ablao, Alvin B. Baldomero, and Mark Arjel P. Manuel earned distinctions as Best Poster and First Runner-Up for Best Paper for their research titled “Tibig (Ficus nota) Leaf Extract on Growth Performance, Diarrhea Incidence,

Hematobiochemical Indices, and Fecal Ammonia in Newly Weaned Piglets.”

The group, who was coached by Dr. Lai Lanie A. Cungihan, received certificates, a plaque, and a PHP 25,000 cash prize

Aside from the research competition, NVSU also participated in the Agri-Youth Quiz Bee, represented by Amyl John Baysa, Minette Irish Guillermo, and Donalyn Santiago.

The said event gathered hundreds of young agriculturists, educators, and innovators from across the country, promoting youth participation in sustainable agriculture, research, and agripreneurship.
