Dr. Cungihan to share IoT Workshop from Thailand

Featuring at the second International Seminar series with the theme “Continuous Knowledge Amplification Harnessing Global Expertise Through Ongoing Faculty Re-Echo and Implementation” to be organized by the NVSU Research, Extension, and Training (RET) program, in collaboration with the Office of International Affairs, is Dr. Lai Lanie A. Cungihan, Assistant Professor I and Chairperson of the Department of Animal Science from the College of Agriculture to share her learning experience on the International Training on Internet of Things (IoT) Applications in Livestock Management.

The said training is conducted by the Asian Productivity Organization (APO), in cooperation with the Foundation for Thailand Productivity Institute (FTPI) in Bangkok, Thailand last February 20-23. Composed of 21 participants from 16 countries, they have attended in various activities such as lecture sessions covering the Precision Livestock Farming (PLF) applications in poultry and dairy, smart livestock management in Japan and Europe; site visits offering real-world insights into PLF practices at a commercial poultry and aquaculture farms; and group presentations where they presented project proposals for PLF applications across different livestock species.

According to Dr. Cungihan, the training provided an in-depth overview of how IoT technology is reshaping livestock management practices as the level of efficiency that the farms in Thailand achieved through PLF was truly remarkable. “The training also facilitated valuable networking opportunities, allowing me to connect with experts and professionals in the field. These connections will undoubtedly foster future collaborations and knowledge exchange,” she added.
