NVSU Graduate Ranks Fourth in Foresters Licensure Examination

Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, October 25, 2023 – The Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) is proud to announce the outstanding achievement of one of its recent graduates, Patrisha Maye Balbin Cariño, in the October 2023 Foresters Licensure Examination (FLE). Cariño, a Bachelor of Science in Forestry (BSF) graduate of 2023, secured a remarkable fourth place ranking in the nationwide examination with a remarkable rating of 90.40%.

Hailing from Masoc, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, Forester Cariño’s achievement reflects the dedication and excellence instilled in NVSU students within the College of Forestry, Environment & Resources Management (CFERM). She is the 18th BSF graduate from CFERM to make it to the Top 10 in the FLE, underscoring the university's commitment to producing highly competent professionals in the field of forestry.

The Foresters Licensure Examination was conducted by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on October 17-18, 2023, across various cities in the Philippines, including Manila, Baguio, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Koronadal, Legazpi, Lucena, Pagadian, Pampanga, Rosales, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, and Zamboanga. The results, an outstanding testament to Forester Cariño’s Dedication and hard work, were released on Monday, October 23, just three working days after the conclusion of the examination.

In this year's FLE, 1,076 out of 1,947 examinees successfully passed, marking a national passing rate of 55.26%. The NVSU community is particularly delighted to share that the institution achieved an impressive institutional passing rate of 63.27%. Of the NVSU examinees, 55 out of 77 first-time takers and 7 out of 21 repeaters successfully passed the examination. These results affirm NVSU's commitment to providing quality education and preparing its students for professional success.

The October 2023 Professional Foresters Licensure Examination covered a wide range of topics to test the knowledge and competence of aspiring foresters. These topics included Forest Ecosystem, which made up 25% of the examination, Forest Policy and Governance (25%), Forest Engineering and Utilization (20%), and Forest Resources Management (30%). The broad scope of subjects tested in the examination underscores the comprehensive education received by NVSU students.
