NVSU Marks ASEAN, Buwan ng Wika Celebration with Focus on Culture, Sustainable Communities
To partake in ushering cultural understanding and sustainable development in the ASEAN community, the Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU), through its Culture and the Arts Office, organized the 2025 ASEAN Month and Buwan ng Wika celebration on August 27–29 at the university grounds under the themes "Paglinang sa Filipino at Katutubong Wika: Makasaysayan sa Pagkakaisa ng Bansa" and "Inclusivity and Sustainability."
The three-day celebration was participated in by the nine (9) colleges and their respective student contestants and also spotlighted cultural performances, academic competitions, and artistic exhibits that reflected the institution's participation in regional cooperation and its alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 11 on inclusive and sustainable communities.
Spearheaded by Culture and the Arts Director Prof. Fermila D. Cauilan with campus coordinators Mr. Joseph Bubod and Mr. Lionel Luis F. Dumelod, the event included activities such as the ASEAN Hymn and Parade, ASEAN Kultura at Sining exhibit, Chalk Art Drawing, Edukasyon at Talino Quiz Bowl, Map Challenge, and ASEAN Short Video Contest.
Student organizations and faculty members collaborated to organize the contests and presentations, while the university’s performing ensemble, Ayug ken Tignay Performing Arts Group, opened and concluded the event with presentations flaunting the collective identity and shared aspirations of ASEAN member nations.
In her remarks, Prof. Cauilan said the celebration provided a setting for students to experience ASEAN values through education and creativity. “The activities were designed to connect cultural expression with learning and engagement,” she noted.
